Introduction to charts
Getting Started with Charts
You access Charts by clicking the Charts option in your EVAL navigation. When you open Charts for the first time, you start with Simulated Patients, which provide a safe environment to explore the module's features before working with real data.
Activating Charts
You activate the Charts module through a subscription process. Once your subscription is active, Charts becomes available in your account navigation and you can begin creating and managing patients.
Simulated Patients
What Are Simulated Patients?
Simulated patients are pre-populated patient records that come with limited demographic and clinical data. They give you a realistic starting point for testing evaluations, exploring workflows, and familiarizing yourself with the Charts interface.
Use Cases for Simulated Patients
- Health systems -- You use simulated patients to test evaluation workflows before deploying them in production with real patient data.
- Content creators -- You build and validate evaluations against simulated patient data to ensure your clinical content works as expected.
- Medical training -- You conduct training exercises and demonstrations using simulated patients, giving learners hands-on experience without exposing real patient information.
Simulated Patient Data
Simulated patient data is generated based on gender and age group. The data provides enough clinical context to run evaluations and test evaluation behavior. Note that you cannot modify simulated patient data -- these records serve as fixed reference points for testing and exploration.
Next Steps
Once you are comfortable with simulated patients, you can move on to creating real patient records and running evaluations. See the Patient Evaluations guide for details on creating patients and conducting evaluations.
